Kochi received a BEA Leadership Grant for support from WRI India on the development of a benchmarking program for government buildings. Kochi has also been working to refine and implement a zero-carbon roadmap for their building sector.

The BEA and WRI India successfully conducted a building energy performance benchmarking survey for large office buildings and identified barriers to energy efficiency retrofits through a qualitative assessment. Though delayed due to COVID-19, the team is building a framework for a larger, citywide program on building energy performance benchmarking to cover all office buildings in the city and identify mechanisms to roll out retrofits.
