The BEA partnered with the State of Yucatán’s Ministry of Sustainable Development to create a technical standard of energy efficiency for public buildings. With the support of SUMe and the Mexican Green Building Council, the State has established working and advisory groups to design the new technical standard.

Yucatán has engaged with the Mexican Federal Government in workshops to synergize its policies across BEA partner cities in Mexico and standardize legal frameworks on energy efficiency. A focus of this national-subnational alignment has been to define public policy through the collection and analysis of information, identification of policy options, the definition of state priorities and consensus with the working group.
