The partnership between the city of Bogotá and Colombia demonstrates national-subnational success.

As countries around the world ramp up ambition toward global climate and development goals, Bogotá’s experience demonstrates why countries should look to cities for “ground-truthing.” The Colombia Green Building Council, as part of the BEA partnership’s work in Bogota, spearheaded the development of a national policy establishing technical guidelines for the local implementation of the country’s 2015 sustainable construction code. Now local governments nationwide will be able to comply with the code and contribute to the transformation of Colombia’s construction sector.
