The City of Belgrade, local stakeholders, the BEA and UNEP are helping to facilitate a process of thinking on the challenges related to district energy and identify possible solutions. In addition to improving the district heating system itself, the best way to provide sustainable energy to Belgrade’s citizens is through improving its buildings. A more efficient district heating system reduces the burden for the system and cost for the consumers, and creates an opportunity to provide energy to more of the city more sustainably. Belgrade’s efforts to improve energy efficiency in buildings is contributing to the United Nations goal of doubling energy efficiency by 2030. Read the full article here.
