As part of the Philippines’ commitment to accelerate action on energy efficiency in buildings to improve air quality and reduce emissions, Pasig City has joined three other cities in the Philippines to take local action towards building energy efficiency.

BEA partners held a National Workshop with Mandaluyong, Pasig, Santa Rosa and the Science City of Muñoz, along with development partners integral to the advancement of building energy efficiency in the country. Participants visited various types of energy-efficient buildings to see how they were designed, operated and maintained. The workshop focused on the Philippine Green Building Code, its implications and the steps the national government is taking to facilitate downscaling to the local level. The workshop also featured how to conduct a basic energy survey.

Commitments to the Building Efficiency Accelerator:

Policy

  • Target private sector compliance with Pasig City Green Building Ordinance and initiate building efficiency programs (LED conversion and other energy efficiency initiatives) in at least 20% of commercial buildings in Pasig City

Pilot Program

  • Five new buildings and/or projects to achieve a 1 or 2-star rating in the BERDE Green Building Certification; 100% conversion of LED lights in Pasig City Hall and 50% of public schools; 100% installation of motion sensor/occupancy sensors in Pasig City Hall by end of 2018
