Campeche was a 2019-2020 BEA deep engagement city through the World GBC-led Cities Climate Action Project.

Through working groups and collaboration with the national government and leading academic institutions, the BEA and local lead partner SUMe designed an Energy Management System for the Government Palace and led training for public sector employees on the design and implementation of energy management systems to be applied across the state of Campeche.

Policy

  • Establish an Energy Management System (EMS) for select public buildings and develop capacity for efficient design and operation, with the long-term goal of establishing an EMS for all buildings owned by the state of Campeche
  • Develop technical rules for establishing efficiency and savings criteria in buildings owned by Campeche

Pilot Program

  • Establish an Energy Management System (EMS) in 4 state public buildings with the goal of setting an example for scale-up across the state portfolio
